Besides Nanofrog's really good advice there is also another option, namely going with the ZFS filesystem, which can make dynamic stripes on its own.
In this manner you can skip on the expensive RAID-card altogether and opt for more drives and the only filesystem that really offers data integrity.
You could grab this 12-bay Hot-swappable enclosure (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16816133044) for a meager $399.99 and have enough upgrade options down the road.
I'm a fan of the ZFS filesystem, as it can offer less expensive alternatives for some (have to make sure the server can handle the overhead, and the user has the technical know how to implement and manage the software, especially if it's via a form of Linux to save on funds).
There are ready-made solutions out there though (not tried anything out on a Mac, so I don't know if there's issues). But one company that does a decent job of it is Oracle.

hi there,
Thanks to this forum, i need again a piece of help before i connect my new 15"mbp to my aluminum cinema display 23". I bought the DVI to mini DVI connector but i forgot about the firewire cable from the monitor... the unibody mbp don't have such plug unlike my older 2008 mbp model. So what to do with this firewire cable? any other adaptor?

Can you no longer do volume increments of a quarter-bar in Lion? In Snow Leopard it was alt+shift+volume up/down, but that no longer works in Lion. I liked having precise control of the volume :(
Anyone know if this still exists?

I don't see why it would not work. I thought about doing that, but then I realized my TV has USB ports with the ability to play movies. Does your tv have this?
If you plug it in to your ps3, just make sure everything is backed up somewhere (even if it is on your computer) and plug it in, see what happens. If it erases, then just transfer everything over to the hard drive again from your computer.
If it works, i would say to turn off your ps3 before unplugging the hard drive.

I've tried all the ones you listed and liked them alot. Picking a lockscreen is really dependant on your mood, I guess. You have about 10,000 lockscreens out there so you can find one that fits your liking. I only have about 200 of them :D but I find myself liking the minimalist approach (at least for now) in terms of lockscreens. The HTC Animated one is nice since, well, it moves. I'm changing my LS about once a week so it all depends on what I'm feeling at the moment :)

I saw on the news people were scalping all the salt and then posting ads online and auction sites selling it for 25x it's regular price!!! Lol Chinese people rip off each other just like the iPad scalping.
so you think you are at good education. if you were, you don't laugh about this.
what about our border mexico has earthquake and Radiation that effect US, at that time I thing the not only the price of salt will go up... but everything. So you think American people rip off each other as well?
If ipad2 can release in china at the same time as US everyone will be happy (i am the one still waiting for my ipad 2) At China, people have higher demand of Ipad 2, they can offer the higher price to purchase that product. I don't that is the problem. If you can pay higher price to get a Ipad 2, then you can get one ( I am assume you don't have one yet) Peace:)

Very cool; one of the best Flash websites I've ever seen. But, for some odd reason, I found myself leaning my head closer to the screen. :confused:

@MechaSpanky, someone could still take a screenshot and apply some simple Photoshop (as MacDawg has said).
Yes, that is true and it is a very good point but I still think that a locked PDF file (with the editing capabilities restricted) will deter most people who might think about stealing your stuff. Sure there are others out there that will take the time to download a high res screen capture utility (you will have to actually download a program to do this as the normal screen capture on Macs is 72 ppi, which is low res) but I would imagine that most companies wouldn't do that. It is the same problem that software companies face with piracy. There will always be people who can and will steal stuff, but the majority will not.
I myself, as a designer have been asked to submit samples of my work for review by clients. I have never had anyone steal any of my work (although there have been a couple of companies that might have "borrowed" some of my design ideas but that is even harder to prevent). Just to be safe, I always use a PDF with restricted editing capabilities and I also add a watermark. Sure someone can get around this but it will take them a while to do it (never underestimate the power of a well placed watermark, it can make retouching an image very difficult if positioned correctly).
In the end, I would imagine that the best thing to do is to make sure that you can trust the people who you are dealing with. Of course this is not always an option (nor is it an easy thing to determine).

Does this mean we can force those bastions of "traditional values" to pony up any pay due property taxes on their multi-million-dollar facilities?

I have the latest Boinc Client running and in the messaging center it says no useable gpus found?
So CUDA still isn't supported on the Macbooks Nvidia 9400m?
It's supported. You have to install the CUDA drivers though. It's available on the nVidia website.

Nothing new, you can apply the same for the minimize effect.
There is also an error in the login window in 10.3.7 if you click a bit off on the lower account you will get an error message, nothing to worry about however its still a bug never had that before in previous updates. <--- A bit off topic. :)

Or you could consider preloading your images into an array and then just using indexes to reference them. Something like this:
NSArray *imageArray;
int imageArrayIndex;
- (void)viewDidLoad
{

yep yep had the exact same thing. I managed to sort of fix it by downloading and installing Windows vista service pack 1, and then Windows vista service pack 2. Now in order for me to only use headphones i need to disable speakers in the sound prefs, otherwise some sounds go through headphones (when connected) and others through speakers. SO i have sound now its just annoying to have to disable speaker and enable all the time!
hope i could help, also once you have done the above two things, download and install the latest driver, the one u in the link u posted!

I think Bluetooth wasn't added to maintain battery life. Honestly, how much battery can you put in that tiny little thing ? I am somehow amazed it goes for 2 days and 1/2 sometimes and 60% of the time I use it with Nike+

Mine does this too! Very annoying. Hopefully we will find a fix soon.
I know! For now, it's best to use the Google search bar located on the top-right hand side of Safari's browser.

The Griffin iMic is dead cheap and was already a great improvement over the headphone jack on my MacBook. How much are you willing to spend?

I just got the Shivering Isles exp off Xbox Live and it is turning out to be quite fun. It kinda re inspired me to play the game again. I noticed the improved shader effects on the update since i last played which looks rather good in 1080 i. Any way I would recommend this game to anyone who likes RPG/adventure games. :D
