I think we'll see... update to FCP because it is time
Something might be happening there. My order for a custom-build MBP and FCP Universal upgrade is taking a month... not because building the MBP is taking so long (3 days to put it together), but because the FCP upgrade is delayed.
How long can it take to get a small box of DVDs off a shelf? Hmm...
(OTOH, if there's a big FCP update, I'm sure I wouldn't get it for the 35 I paid).

After following all this stuff today, I am really concerned about whateverthehell it is that will be announced next week. There seems to
be limited interest in movie downloads, when there are already good alternatives (netflix, the local video shop, etc.) There are definitely some
questions if that would/will even fly. I, for one, don't really care if I rent. I have a bunch of DVD movies, but rarely view them more than twice. So... even though an apple movie download service comes along, I really wonder how successful it will be. Which leads me to wonder... The Steve is not dumb. He is not going to order up a special meeting like this for something that may turn out to be nothing... Hell, it is apparently viewed by apple as much more important than the introduction of the 24" iMac, which is a heck of an interesting gadget. Do you think that there may be some REALLY BIG new technological/hardware gizmo being intro'd? Something that makes the movie store just a minor part of a larger picture. I keep thinking, Apple is a hardware company. Always has been. SHOW ME THE HARDWARE!
Agreed! On-Demand is the future for movies. It just needs more of a selection then it's perfect.
Downloading movies is of limited interest to most people. Just give up the Mac Media Center (iHome) and we'll all be happy campers come Tuesday!

Seeing as how we don't know the specs of the machine let alone the price point, no, no one will be able to tell you the benefits of this product.

Including, I noticed, my own on the 2009 thread, although I wasn't a member of this forum at the time.
A mate of mine just emailed me thus:
"Mate,
Im just searching through google photos (got some down time at lunch for once!) and I came across this .... http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=627003&page=4 .... Your car but considering the individual posted also claims to own a Corsa and Rover HSE it doesnt sound like you at all? looks like someone wannabe claiming ownership of your life mate :O Scary part is next page the same person posts again and shows a pic of your missus car!"
Naturally I had a look and sure enough, my car (and the wife's) in pictures no doubt stolen from the Audi A5 owners' club site.
Thought I'd let you know in case anyone is thinking of placing trust in this individual ('Mac.') - you may want to think twice.
I'm actually pretty glad we don't have either car any more - bit scary to see what some people will actually do!

Absolutely. Although I've met many dozens of gay men in my life who, no matter what you plied them with, couldn't and wouldn't have sex with a woman. Can't say the same about a sizeable proportion of allegedly straight men.
Can't disagree with that analysis.
There are a hell of a lot of "straight" guys who are in the closet at least as far as being bisexual.

Uhh, ok? You linked to a video where the HD 3000 is going against an unreleased APU from AMD. May as well have posted a comparison to the GMA 950 to the 6990.
I never said there was nothing better than the Intel 3000, I said it doesn't suck as bad as he makes it out to be(or AMD's unreleased propaganda, or you).

Back on topic....... Supposedly, Ivy Bridge (next year?) will support USB 3. I wonder if it will be possible to have some sort of a Thunderbolt to USB 3 interface. I would hate to buy a new iMac now and not be able to take advantage of the USB 3 speed when it becomes more widely used in the next few years. Or is that not something to worry about?
Why would you want to use a SLOWER interface in the first place? As far as ports are concerned, TB should be able to work with everything (USB, FW etc.) anyway, provided the right adapters are used...

Its a trademark. Give me a break. What do you think the "typed drawing" said?
That is a very weak argument. Apple does not say they are the only app store. They have the largest app store. And their app store is named App Store. The name is trademarked too.
Try again Knight.
Knight is correct.
You can trademark a graphic that contains words, but have no rights to the actual words themselves.
It is you who needs an education on what a trademark actually is.
The general population never heard the term "App" until Apple released the iPhone.
Nor did the general population ever shop for Apps online until Apple built the App Store.
The abbreviation "App" used in conjunction with "store" to denote an online marketplace in which to buy applications is a unique combination that is not known in generic parlance.
Apple will win this.
Are you 12?
You're argument is so inaccurate it isn't even funny.

Wow amazing I just hope more debs gets creative with this.
I love people say that this is the future of gaming. I agree with that.
Then stupid people say we have ps2 graphics. They said future of gaming. Not now. Just look at the jump from iPad 1 to 2. Think 3 years from now when we have CPUs with quad cores and even better graphics.
Amazing by the devs that created real racing 2. Looks fantastic

If the iTV is going to cost £100, it will need to do something pretty special to be a success - everything that Microsoft offerings can do at the very least.
The quoted price is $299 which nominally translates to £157 + Apple stiff a brit tax + Government screw yer countryman tax.
I'm expecting £199.
If you think the iTV will do everything that a media centre pc circa(£800) does then i want to know what you are smoking?
It'll be a highly focused 1st release ie, everything in the Sept presentation + RSS feeds rebranded as clever channels, delivering usual junk off YouTube and Google video.
Games, ichat, online imovie editing, they'll be in patch releases, when you buy iTV 2 or never, cos Steve thinks those things suck ass on a TV.

For the sake of consistency with the App Store and its censorship policies, it should be removed for containing offensive, disgusting content.
I don't think it should be removed, and I don't think many other apps that have been removed should be removed. I just think Apple should censor consistently or not censor at all.

Congrats to designed for reaching 1 million.
yes, congrats to designed for 1 million points!
and congrats to you, whiterabbit for 11 million points!
but why is it not showing you hit 11 million points for the team?
I'm assuming that frame times refer to the steps FahCore reports? If that's the case, they seem to be around the 33 minute mark to do the 1% of the bigadv-package.
yes, each frame is 1% of a WU. 33:00 is pretty good. keep it up!

Yes, I do!
For me, TextEdit and Preview crash on launch. I suspected Dropbox 1.1.13 but killing Dropbox didn't 'cure' the crashes.
Not getting any of these at all.

Reasons why this isn't a good idea:
1. Too small, you can get 19 inch widescreen monitors for 130 upward these days. The market for the Apple 17" is that market. I'd believe a 19inch rumour though. The 20" ACD is pro, maybe release a 19" in black or white for macbook/mac mini owners?
2. Digitimes? Page 3 rumours.
And talking of matching accessories when is apple going to release keyboards that are up to date? Their current offering look as out of date as the bondi blue imac. Euw (I know this is off-topic for the thread but the rumour is bogus anyway :) ).

Remind me to never ask you for computer advice.
The parents bought a top of the line g4 iMac back when superdrives were 2x.
They still haven't used the superdrive to burn a dvd.
fine by me.....do what you will. that's them, but what about their kids? or anyone else who ever uses it? what about backing up their data?*
say what you will, but a dvd burner is always worth it

Dude, it's even better than that! Its song capacity is only limited by how many cassette tapes you can carry!
Is there a car phone version that plugs directly into the tape deck?
