It is a great achievement. Congrats to the core team and all the volunteers who contributed. There is a Tamil proverb meaning, "little rain droplets make a huge river". Each of our small contribution would definitely give us financial strength to put forth our case with the US congress & Government.

For the past one week I posted more then 50 fliers in many of the apartment communities in my neighborhood and also sent lot of emails to friends and groups & forums in my company.
I did receive few disappointing comments on our effort but ignored and continuing my effort.

As I see it, the 7% cap is nothing but a clear case of affirmative action on a global scale. Republicans would definitely support removing this cap if the debate was framed in this angle rather than to give relief to any particular country. Relief is to the business's in the US - the freedom for them to hire the best in the world not to forced in to affirmative action due to quotas in high skilled immigration.

I am working on H1B. Recently what has happened that my family lives in state A, and I am working in state B. My family could not move to state B because my sone is going to school. I have to pay alot of expenses to go back and fort from state B to A, like air ticket and cab ect. I talking to my compnay regarding this and they said that whatever are my expenses submit to every month end and he will send a check for those expenses which will be pre taxed amount. i.e. if my pre taxed salary is $ 5000 per-month , if I submit expense statemet for $500. Then my employer will send a check of 500 and paystub i.e. direct deposit after applying tax on $4500.
I am not sure whatever he is suggesting is good tyhing to do and it will not have any problem for me.
If you made a correct explanation then: 1. You will end up with $4500- of wages PLUS $500 of reimbursable expenses. Therefore only $4500 will be taxed.
You should to make sure that in your Form W2 ( 1. Wages, tips, other compensation)for 2008 these $500 will not be shown: reason- you will be taxed only on $4500 but your income will be higher so you will may end up with additional taxes owned- that depends on you Income).
That scenario is OK if your total salary is not an issue for you.
For you Employer paying to you $4500 Plus $500( reimbursable) is much better
cause he will pay company taxes only on that $4500 and not on $500.
There could be other ways to resolve this problem. Depends on your employer
willingness.

Need help ....
Today I receive an email from USCIS about my PERM EB2 I-140 PP application that they have have made a decision on my case. Here what it says
"On August 17, 2007, we mailed you a decision on your I140, IMMIGRANT PETITION FOR ALIEN WORKER. Please follow the instructions on the notice. If you move before you receive the notice, please contact customer service."
What does it mean? They approved my case or denied it? Any idea from gurus here. Please respond.
sorry to break the bad news to you,but this usually means a denial. My I 140 was approved recently, the online status cleared said it's approved. I read many posts on this forum who had the same online status as yours and their I 140's were denied.

I am on H1. I got laid off in March 2009 and have not got anything since then. So I dont have lot of amount in my W2 for this year I have my H1 extension (after 3 years) coming up next year (2010).
My employer advised me to run payroll taxes for rest of the year, so that we could get W2 which would be helpful for H1 extension.
I have following Questions - Is W2 required for H1 extension or would few pay checks suffice?

What is required for a H1 extension is a "JOB". You should try and get a job asap. Technically, you are accruing unlawful presence in the US since the day you are out of the job (unless you have a pending I-485). On top of that, what your employer is suggesting is illegal. Try to find a job asap and apply for H1 COE petition. You will be required to submit your latest paystubs though.

While I agree that yours is a genuine case, I must say that you are asking a wrong question. How do one know when would your recipt come out from USCIS? No one has a crystal ball dude...Think before you send out a question there.....

The irony in the current schizophrenic EB immigration policy is that, it is ironically the more talented, qualified and marketable and entrepreneural talent that is more likely to look at US immigration policy and call it a day. It is conversely the mediocre talent that would be inclined to "stick it out" and deal with all the crap.

Just keep waiting. My PD was current for months now, but my 140 is still pending. just keep waiting.
I think we can file for 485 even when I-140 is pending? We will get green card after 140 is approved but we can file for 485 and EAD ? Can anyone comment who has gone thru this process?
