the ram cover won't come off lol
since i really don't want to do it myself, i'm taking it to macenthusiasts to get it off since that's what the apple store genius dude told me to do.
i have a 512mb stick somewhere...i should really go...maybe i'll go right now.

a family friend has had hers done. But she spent over a grand on them.
So it sounds like a good deal based simply on the grand.
But, she doesnt drink wine or coffee anymore.
That to me would be quite a sacrifice!

Previous keynotes have been made available as free podcasts via iTunes, so unless they are planning the Beatles to reunite (including George and John) I predict that this year's will also be free.

The memcpy() function returns a pointer to dest. (http://www.kernel.org/doc/man-pages/online/pages/man3/memcpy.3.html)
That falls under "esoteric knowledge that nobody should ever bother with". Which means it immediately fails a code review, just like someone writing "a + 1 << i" and expecting people to know which operator has higher precedence.

It wouldn't be so bad if their core content was good once you got through the garbage. But their rumors have always been iffy, and as edesignuk says, the gallery has always been slower than watching the grass grow. Maybe they'll take all this ad revenue and buy a newer server. I've got a PM 9500 I'm not using - I'll bet its 200MHz 604e would be a huge upgrade over their current Quadra 650. (Oh wait, maybe they're still using that IIcx they got at the yard sale last year)

I just don't see how Gingrich can possibly be a viable candidate. Even with the brainpower of the greatest marketers and spinsters out there...The attack ads practically write themselves:
Sarcastic Political Announcer Voiceover: Newt Gingrich left his wife when she was diagnosed with cancer. When the going got tough, he ran away. What do you think he'll do when the going gets tough for the American People? Is that a risk we can take?
Let's not forget he was cheating on his dying wife while he was drumming up impeachment for Bill Clinton. Oh...and let's not forget how the government shutdown went for him.
Am I missing something here? I just don't see how he can acknowledge or deny his past without having that damage his character even further.

i'm in search of three ipod shuffles and i need them as cheap as possible. iirc, the apple store for education is selling refurbs (which are okay, as long as they're apple recertifieds) for 79 each. if anyone can find something for 69 (or less!) please let me know. i need them as giveaways for a program at my school.
thanks...i appreciate it.
Check E-bay, and be sure to sort "Buy it Now" by price..be careful of egregious shipping charges, though/

Just wondering!
A 27" iMac with an upgraded 6970M is not a standard retail channel configuration. Neither are models with solid state drives or SSD/HDD combos.

Looking at the site, it is actually not too bad looking. Well, for use on flights etc...

Thanks for the responses, i'll do a full restore tonight to see if it has any effects on the battery life, I don't want to turn off the push notifications and push email unless I have too.
it could be that I am in a no service area for most of the day and the phone keeps trying to get the service so maybe I just need to switch it into airplane mode whenever I have no service.

I don't listen to NPR, but a simple Google search gave me this:
From MacNN (http://www.macnn.com/news/19215)
A MacNN reader forwarded a note from NPR about its decision to drop QuickTime streaming from its Internet services: "For several years, npr.org has been offering some of our audio in QuickTime, but recently the arrangement between Apple and NPR expired. During the last several months, Apple and NPR have tried to work out the terms to renew that arrangement, but were unable to come to an agreement. It doesn't reflect on Apple's technology -- business and legal issues alone have led to this outcome."
So it looks bad, but the same Google search also brought up this NPR (http://www.npr.org/quicktime/quicktime.html) site, that has a quicktime stream, but sadly its not a live stream.
Hope this helps

Incorrect. Turbo boost is "dynamic overclocking". Depending on the current number of cores being used and if additional processing power is required, the CPU will slowly increase the clock rate for the currently active cores. It'll do this incrementally until the thermal operating limit of the processor is reached.
Umm, isn't that pretty much exactly what I described in my OP? Albeit I didn't use the phrase "dynamic overclocking".

Thanks. So, the 27" iMac would support two external 22" hdmi/vga displays then?
Childs play. Supports 2 30" displays easily.

Even my 24" iMac 1920 X 1200 powers a second 24" monitor @ 1920 X 1200.
22" @ 1600 x 1080 is even fewer.

Well, no, but it's a pretty tight fit in there so it seems feasible.
Oh, and do you have an AirPort base station? I'm assuming you cannot connect to any wireless networks, right?
That's correct - I can't connect to any wireless networks. I've tried to connect to my neighbours, but I don't get any reception - it won't respond, regardless how close I am to the base station.

I have noticed the speed improvement too. Subtle but just feels more solid and smoother if that make sense.

I' spent most of the weekend editing 16-bit 6MP images in Photoshop CS on my mini, and while it was a little slow when saving and duplicating layers it was still more than adequate. I've got the 1.42GHz mini with 1GB of RAM.
I agree a PM is more suitable and reckon I'll buy one within 12 months but as a cheaper alternative the Mini makes a great stop-gap.
