Fingers crossed they update the PBs or drop prices :D
Did you read the rest, it was down for about 5 minutes to change the .mac page. That's it so far.

You mean do I respond to overblown media hysteria and people who don't really understand how cell phones work? No, not really.

sounds to me your friend is not the brightest bulb in the bunch..... If you want to belive him so be it, but i have been using os x for 2 years now without antivirus software and havent had a single problem. if you have a little common sense you will be just fine using os x without antivirus software.

My Uptime - 12 hours :p
Do you pay your electricity bill?
Also that is one sure way to fry your Mac. Power surge can happen at any time.. Do you really trust those $100 surge boards for 24/7 use or do you have UPS.
Also think of how much dust gets in there...
Not smart to leave your computer on 24/7.
My first Mac and first iMac... the 2006 Core Duo... left it on 24/7 unless I had to reboot due to updates or crashes.
But since I got my Mac Pro last year, I didn't need it on anymore. Funnily enough, the hardy iMac won't turn on anymore :p

What the heck is going on here? I was just using my laptop and noticed a strange smell. I then put my nose near the keyboard and realized that it was a burning smell coming from below the keyboard. I think I may have read a thread on this somewhere else but I cant remember what causes it. Is this normal for macs? Or should I get this thing serviced?

More about it here (http://www.macworld.com/news/2005/07/05/smithmicro/index.php?lsrc=mcrss).
Smith Micro makes FAXstf X (fax software) and QuickLink Mobile (wireless connectivity software) and was interested in Allume because of their newly developed compression software.Allume recently announced the development of a JPEG compression technique that yields a 30 percent reduction in the size of images without any penalty on image quality, and the company expects to be able to apply a similar technique to MPEG video and MP3 audio files.

Likewise, I'm nearing the end of Zelda and looking for something else to try. I've had a look at the Wii selections and haven't found much to tempt me.
I was really hoping the Wii would induce some original games, but by and large it seems to be attracting ports from other consoles with scaled down graphics and the control system tacked on.

You'll have to create a custom subclass of UISlider to achieve this. The general flow would be something like:
- Create a custom subclass of UISlider
- Override the touch handling methods
- When a touch down is detected, determine the location of the touch relative to self
- Set the value of self (the UISlider) to the value corresponding to that touch location

My reason was the competiveness of folding, and the taunting. Love that! Also, I started with folding on my G3 B&W and that wasn't fast enough, so I had a good reason to upgrade to a dual G5 :D

I wish I could get a free iMac! Even the first generations still pop up on craigslist and sell for $50 here. Haha, also makes me feel old... I remember in Elementary School when they introduced those machines and we got a lab of them to replace PowerMac 5200s... ahh how time changes.

I have found SL to be very stable.
I am curious as to how you define "crash". As a software developer, I have always considered a crash to be a segfault in which some bug causes the program to unexpectedly exit. However I have found that, via feedback from my users, that folks have many different perceptions as to what a crash is.
As for the software you mentioned having issues with - I don't use steam (not a gamer), I use itunes somewhat regularly to play some music while I work, or to update my phone's software, don't have any crash issues. I use iWork from time-to-time - don't recall it ever crashing. The most unstable software I use is MS Office.

I may go there or to Tice's. It's not as busy at Tice's. GS Plaza is a mad house on the weekends and I can't imagine it at an event like this.
I need to pick up a power adapter that was ordered for me by the "Genius" at Tice's.
Wherever I am, I'm the guy with long hair.

FWIW, your code doesn't work for me, but your call, in my code, seems to (replacing my malformed IOConnectCallScalarMethod with your IOConnectCallMethod). Thanks for that.
That's essentially what I was looking for as well, first just a way of figuring out how the backlight LED levels are determined and then trying to see if it could be controlled.
Interesting. It works great for me in Xcode 3.2.6 on OS X 10.6.6. Are you using another version or OS? How does it break for you? I just created a new Application -> Command Line Tool -> Foundation, add IOKit to the project and away we go.

Well it would be intresting to see what others say but
Grunt in perhaps , Dual CPU, lower speed
against
One CPU higher Speed
Just look into the debates about whether to get the 6-core 3.33Ghz Mac Pro or the 8-core 2.4Ghz Mac Pro.
There's been enough of people saying what they think :p

I'd buy a DSi if I was buying for 1 game. We have them for sale for around €100 brand new now. Considering 3DS is retailing at €260 here that's one hell of a difference.
DSi = 13 hour battery life, less than 1/2 price
3DS may be more powerful, but 2.5-3 hour battery life & twice the price to do what?
play a game designed for the ds. It seems like a poor trade off.
