They are free and if you pay some fee (I think $80), news will go to many popular news portals.
This is a good time since all the news engines are seeking articles with keyword "immigration". I am sure this will open some more doors for IV.

Hello,
I joined company B in April and prior to that I was working for company A. Fragoman was company A's attorney. Through company A I had my labor certified, I-140 approved and my 485 was pending for more than 180 days and hence I was able to switch my job using AC21. My job was in the same and similar job classification. The AC21 documents were sent to USCIS in early April by company B's attorney.
Last week of October, I received my finger printing notice as part of my I-485 process. When I contacted company B's attorney, they never received any courtesy copy for my finger printing notice. Today I called up USCIS customer service to find out the attorney on record for my file. They mentioned that it was still company A's and the courtesy copy was sent to them. I mentioned to the officer that AC21 was filed which had the change in attorney information. She said that they do not have any records of it. She advised me to send a copy of the AC21 forms again along with the G28 documents.
My question is if company B's attorney send the AC21 documents, will USCIS question why the documents are being sent after 8 months of switching jobs?
Will this trigger an RFE?
Please advise.

Later I called customer service several times after 2 months to see if USCIS updated my file, but turned out not updated. Fortunately in August 2008, my I 485 was approved without any RFE and the welcome notice meant for Attorney's was sent to new attorney, the old attorney did not receive it. Bottom line is USCIS is slow in updating your AC 21 request and definitely not update their computer system accessible to USCIS customer service about AC 21 request, however it looks like they add the document to your physical file. Now I am sure in my case USCIS have taken note of AC21 request during approval.

Couldn't agree more !!!. Stop fighting !!! Both have merits.
This (consideration) may not be widely known but it is not new. I posted a link about a week ago about the senate testimony by a leading law firm (invited witness/expert) on this subject.
From all the discussion above, it's clear bigoted minuteman types who came up with this brilliant tactic of pushing point based system to delay and deny any type of immigration reform this year are winning rhetorical victory.
Guyz.. please just SHUT UP.. No point in fighting with each other..

Hi everyone,
I am trying to reschedule my H1B appointment as my contact in mumbai failed to deliver the DS-156 and DS-157 to the consulate in time (5 business days prior). However, I can't book a new one till the old one is cancelled and the system won't let me cancel 5 business days or less before the current appointment. Does anyone know what to do? It must have happened to someone before? I really need to get back to the US in 10 days.

It happened to my parents. They did not know that they had to drop the packet 5 days before the schedule date. While reading on the website, I found out that they need to drop the packet 5 days before. They then dropped the packet at the embassy 3 days before appointment day. On the appointment day, the visa officer rejected the application after asking one question "why you want to go to the USA?". The reason was a standard line -- not enough evidence that you will come back.
I am not sure about the reason of rejection but I think it has to do with not dropping the packet on time.

If you are driving close to the US border, they will check your documents.
I have driven to Brownsville, TX several times from Houston, and 150 miles north of the southern border, there is a check post which will stop each & every US bound car for immigration status check.
My wife & I keep a photocpy copy of all the pages of our passports, I-797's, EAD's even while driving in our city and carry the originals if we are driving out of the city- Just in case if we are asked by a cop or sheriff about our immigration status we don't want to get grilled.

If you attend the local event on May 15th, you will be able to get a ton of local contacts that will be very useful in forming a group etc.
We are hoping that at the May 15th event, several local (DC metro area) IV members will meet and get to know each other as well - that should be a good start to form a strong local group.

First of all let me ask why you are trying to refile your LC and I-140 when you used AC21 and had filed AOS in July 2007. If your answer is just to renew H1 then that's really not worth. You could technically just renew H-1B based on I-485 receipt also. As long as you have AOS pending you should be able to renew H1. So not sure why you want to go through the hassle of refiling your GC

- One ONLY has to say whether he/she is Authorized to work for any employer in an unrestricted manner
- One ONLY has to say if he/she has a security clearance
- One ONLY has to say if he/she needs a visa sponsership now or in future
- Certain jobs may need that one has to be a US Citizen (not sure about this) - but there must be a valid reason as to why the job needs a US Citizen
Once an employment is offered, the employee has upto 72 hours from the day of joining to provide proof of work authorization and complete the i 9 form. The authorization must be original and the employer must verify this and take a copy and place it in the employee's folder.
