Perhaps Lion will cost relatively little, such as the Snow Leopard upgrade.
Possible, but highly unlikely. Apple did this before with 10.1 for 10.0 owners (Since 10.1 was what 10.0 shouldve been, and 10.6 is what ideally 10.5 shouldve been) - Id expect it going back to $129, since its a full release instead of an improved Snow Leopard.

Infractions are semi-automated reminders, which the moderators usually use instead of individually written private message to save time, ensure consistency, and to maintain our records. Some forum sites use infractions with associated "points" to ban users when they reach a certain threshold, but we don't. Common sense tells us that warnings and reminders are usually all that's needed when users stray outside the rules (anything from minor issues to major violations).

Agreed, I had missed what the app was about. I don't see anything in the desired feature list that can't be implemented as a plain old mobile-optimized website. Basically all a native app would be doing anyway is retrieving that information from the web and displaying it in a webview.
If you need a book to point you in the right direction, pick up Programming the Mobile Web (http://oreilly.com/catalog/9780596807795). Apple also has some resources of their own here: http://www.apple.com/webapps/

Let's be honest here, given the LOOOONG history of video game movies, that is highly unlikely.
..the only thing is a must is get mathew Fox as John Shepard.
This is the main reason, in my opinion. Not everyone played as the default character, nor did everyone play the game the same. This isn't some linear game, with a specific lead character. This game has way too many options, both in character customization, and in character interaction, that the movie has no "definitive" story to base itself on.
So, taking those things out, you will be left with a hollow shell of a sci-fi/action movie, with some occasional nods to the game world. It's lined right up for mediocrity from the start.

Hi folks,
Longtime reader, first time posting anything.
Can anyone offer a critique of this?
It's going to be printed on a 4'x8' vinyl banner to be displayed outdoors. I'm not a designer and I've looked at this thing for so long that I can't even tell what works and what doesn't. It'd be nice to get a fresh pair of eyes on it.
I'm sending this to the print shop to silkscreen several hundred of these, so any advice you can offer would be greatly appreciated.

Sure, the default Sheppard. But, I didn't play as default, nor did any of my friends. And we all acted differently in the game, as well. Will the movie have Sheppard as more "Renegade" or "Paragon" in his/her actions? So many different ways that people could have done things, how do you specify which is "correct" for the movie storyline? What type of character will they be? What armor and weapons will they use? This isn't a Gears of War movie, where we have specific characters going through a specific, predetermined story, with premade cutscenes and dialogue.
Don't get me wrong. I really enjoy the world of Mass Effect. But, the reason I love it is SPECIFICALLY because I can personally interact with it, how ever I want. The minute you take all that away, you end up with just another sci-fi/action movie, loosely based on a game, that fails miserably. I don't want to see that happen to this game. Sadly, it seems it will.

Yeah, I'm going to wait and order mine. I'm not rushing in to it. I'll order mine online also, unless I have good reason to pop in to town and buy the iPad2 from the local Bristol store. I'm still wondering if I really need it or not. Still deciding, but temptation is strong! :rolleyes:

I took a 1TB external (the small form factor model from WD), created two partitions on it, then installed Lion on one of the two partitions. It runs remarkably well, albeit just a tad slow in some aspects, but I have no major issues and it even goes to sleep! I was unable to install iStat Menus 2 (the last free version), some of the previously-installed apps from the Mac App Store (installed on my internal HDD), or use iProxy, but I really, really like Lion and can't wait for it to be released.
I ran Geekbench and, while I didn't expect a great score, only scored 3661 on a late-2008 MacBook Pro (2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo with 6 GB RAM). I'll just put that down to Lion being installed on an external USB2 device.
One thing I really liked was that when you download an app from the Mac App Store, instead of the app being installed in your dock, Launchpad is invoked and the app gets "installed" there.

My 3GS is a lot snappier than before. They fixed the annoying issue about the unlock bar sensitivity being too high (had to go exactly straight). And most of the animations no longer stagger.

kinda funny, now when I use a pc I expect it to crash, its like I'm waiting on it to, I was at a friends house with windows 98 and he was trying to copy a cd, so he did the usual stuff with nero and called me when it didn't work, after an hour of crashing I finally got it to work, made me want to use my iBook that much more when I got back home. I should have switched much sooner, my blood pressure would have dropped faster lol!
